漫遊嘉道理

以前到嘉道理農場，都是遠足後取道下山而經過，不少景點也沒有踏足，於是決定來正式走一趟，緬懷當年嘉道理兄弟為新界農民所作出的貢獻，並讚嘆當年在陡峭山坡上開天闢地的創舉。除了欣賞花花草草和牲口外，旅程包括昔日中央郵政總局門柱的四柱擎天、有古老祭壇和熱氣洞的觀音山頂、紀念嘉道理兄弟的雙頂亭、建於七十年代的世界主要城市指示牌等，亦遊走園中的擎天徑、吊鐘路、凌霄徑、彩虹徑及天梯等生態徑，探尋徑上的亭台小橋，感受園內的大自然氣息。

今次探遊觀音山的熱氣洞，真的感受到暖風，相當神奇。坊間一般說是因為這洞為火山爆發後留下的「蒸汽口」，但據論述農場歷史的書籍《KAAA》中的解釋，這現象其實是因為觀音山有不少岩石罅隙通往山腳，而較暖的空氣通過罅隙上升至山頂洞口，在天氣寒冷的日子，令人感受到暖風，甚至凝結成煙霧。（原文：Geologists' explanation for the hot pot phenomenon is the fact that the entire hill is honeycombed with coarse jointings and open fissures in the rocks at its base. These fissures are connected by channelways from the base of the hill to the summit which allow the passage of warm winds blown into the northern hillslopes. The warmer air from the base of the hill thus travels up through these natural rock shafts without mixing with the outer, colder air, emerging from the air vents in clouds of warm steam. In very cold weather the sight of these warm clouds of steam billowing out of the ground is truly awesome.）
